Boxabl Receives Regulatory Approval for Casita Units in Texas
Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. BOXABL Inc. has officially announced that it has received regulatory approval to sell and deploy its signature modular housing unit, the BOXABL Casita, throughout the state of Texas. This regulatory clearance marks a significant milestone in the company's expansion strategy, providing direct access to one of the most rapidly growing residential real estate markets in North America.
The expansion comes as Texas implements major shifts in housing policy, including legislation such as HB 1779 and SB 673, which aim to reduce local zoning restrictions on accessory dwelling units (ADUs) by limiting restrictive lot sizes and owner-occupancy requirements. BOXABL executives highlighted that Texas is experiencing a surge in construction approvals, particularly in major urban centers like Austin and Dallas.
Key Highlights:
- Approval allows for the immediate sale and deployment of the Casita studio in Texas.
- Strategic expansion aligns with favorable legislative changes facilitating ADU installation.
- Texas joins other key markets like California and Washington, which contribute to a large share of national ADU permits.
- The move comes as BOXABL approaches its planned merger with FG Merger II Corp. (Nasdaq: FGMC), with a public listing expected in June 2026.
BOXABL, which was founded in 2017, specializes in factory-built modular solutions, including the 361-square-foot Casita, which features a full kitchen and bathroom and can be set up in less than an hour. The company is also developing additional housing products, including the Baby Box and stackable, connectable units intended for multi-family developments.
