Deep Fission Selects Kansas Site for Department of Energy Pilot Project
Berkeley, CA - Deep Fission, a nuclear energy company focusing on advanced small modular pressurized water reactors, has announced its selection of the Great Plains Industrial Park in Parsons, Kansas, as the site for its upcoming Department of Energy (DOE) pilot project. The company plans to host a groundbreaking ceremony on December 9, 2025.
This initiative is part of the DOE Reactor Pilot Program, aimed at accelerating the deployment of advanced nuclear technologies. Deep Fission's design involves placing small modular reactors in boreholes one mile underground, utilizing the surrounding geology for passive shielding and containment.
