General Fusion Hits Technical Milestone for MTF Machine Ahead of Merger Vote

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - General Fusion Inc. has reached a significant technical milestone with its large-scale Magnetized Target Fusion machine, Lawson Machine 26 (LM26).

The company announced that its LM26 machine has successfully achieved compressional plasma heating to electron temperatures of approximately 8.4 million degrees Celsius, or 0.72 keV. This performance was driven by the compression of plasma using a lithium liner, serving as a key indicator of progress for the company's approach to fusion energy.
