General Fusion and General Atomics Partner on Fusion Diagnostics
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada General Fusion Inc. has announced a strategic collaboration with the General Atomics Energy Group to develop advanced diagnostic systems. These tools are critical for the second phase of General Fusion's ongoing Lawson Machine 26 (LM26) fusion demonstration program, which aims to accurately measure high plasma temperatures exceeding 10 keV, equivalent to 100 million degrees Celsius.
This technical partnership leverages the extensive experience of General Atomics in fusion research, specifically through its operation of the U.S. Department of Energy DIII-D National Fusion Facility. By improving plasma measurement capabilities, the collaboration seeks to validate engineering designs necessary to support commercially relevant fusion systems.
